each melee or spell attk reduces the inner fire by 1 charge, even if the attk is not a damage taking hit... I use Power word Shield.. and it still looses a charge...

thats becouse PW:S onyl absorbs dmg,it does NOT negate hits. SO with inner fire on,mele hits do less dmg,which equals less dmg for PW:S to absorb,it works just fine

Vurod's right. Inner fire *should* be decremented by 1 even if all damage is absorbed by PW:S. So the way you describe it, both spells are working as intended.

Power word: shield takes armour into consideration before it absorbs the damage. So with inner fire on, your power word: shield suffers less damage from the hit. Thus the inner fire has had its effect, even though you didn't see any numbers. It provides increased armour for a certain number of hits, regardless of whether or not those hits damage your health or damage your shield.

I have a priest on retail and HITS DONT REMOVE INNER FIRE CHARGE WHILE I HAVE PW: SHIELD on me.
